Both positions require field skills and the fundamental knowledge and experience to perform work in Engineering Geology. Both positions need skill in geomorphology and also will perform reviews of proposed development activities as they may affect District interests. The ability to perform some limited cross functional work in the areas of both positions is desirable. Position #0487 is primarily engineering geology related to District facilities and involves dam monitoring, landslide analysis, fault investigations, foundation conditions and construction geology, and seismic hazards such as strong ground shaking and liquefaction, including seismotectonic studies and risk analysis. Position #0488 is primarily hydrogeology specialty within engineering geology related to groundwater basin management and protection, including water supply, recharge, and contaminant investigations. QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of professional experience at a level equivalent to that of the Assistant Engineering Geologist II. Equivalent to a Bachelors degree in geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology or related scientific field. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of California Registration as a Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, or Certified Hydrogeologist is highly desirable. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license may be required with determinations made on a case by case basis at the time of appointment. Examples of level of responsibility could be as a student; under general or specific direction of a licensed person; or as the geologist in responsible charge (e.g. under your own direction). Question 4: Briefly state your understanding of the differences between surface water movement and groundwater movement. Question 5: A) Describe your experience in collecting, presenting, and analyzing and interpreting engineering geologic data. B) What are typical problems with geologic data and with analysis of the data? Examples of the types of data might include data derived from structural orientation measurements, chemical analyses, piezometric data, inclinometer data, survey data, seismological data, tectonic strain information, or pump test data. Question 6: Please describe your experience using computer systems and software to assist you in your geologic data analysis and daily work. Identify the computer platforms, networks, software packages, Geographic Information Systems, and any other information systems that you have used. Question 7: Describe your experience in giving presentations and in group negotiations. Describe the size of the group, the issues, your role and experience with difficult audiences. Question 8: What is your geologic report writing experience, how many years of experience and what was your level of contribution/responsibility for these reports?
