"Ms. Mach's major responsibility, and the continuing focus of the company, will be to advance this important project through feasibility. Her background makes her ideally suited for managing the many activities that will occur at the NorthMet Project during the next several months," said Don Gentry, PolyMet president and chief executive officer. Ms. Mach brings 13 years of both domestic and international project management and mine site experience, most recently with Echo Bay Mines Ltd. During her career, she has repeatedly been responsible for directing the activities necessary for the completion of feasibility studies and for advancing exploration projects to the development stage. Ms. Mach will be responsible for overseeing the current in-fill drilling program and incorporating the results into deposit modeling and resource estimation for the Project. Mineralized material from the drilling program will be used in a pilot plant test early in 2000 aimed at confirming the positive recoveries accomplished in bench-scale testing in 1999. Ms. Mach also will participate in the collection of baseline environmental data for use in the Project's design with the goal of minimizing environmental impacts, and she will ultimately be responsible for all site activities to support the pre-feasibility study, now planned for completion mid-2000. Gentry also announced that Ms. Robbin Lee has also joined PolyMet as director of investor and public relations. Ms. Lee brings to the company 10 years of experience in investor and public relations with large- and mid-tier gold mining companies. Most recently, she directed the award-winning investor relations program at Echo Bay Mines Ltd. "The addition of Ms. Lee to the team reflects the company's continuing commitment to open communication with its shareholders, the investment community and public while working toward the goal of advancing the NorthMet Project and developing PolyMet into a significant player in the mining industry," Gentry said. Please help if you can. "I teach the youth staff that teaches the Boy Scout summer camp geology merit badge program. I am also on the staff of the BSA's National Camp School for Southern California. I would appreciate assistance in locating resources that could loan or give us specimens and student lesson plans for boys in the 12-18 year old range. During the summer and spring break camps I volunteer at the Mataguay Scout Reservation; it is located near Warner Springs (NE of San Diego). Unfortunately it is located in an area that is mostly granite so I have been bringing to camp specimens to give the boys from other areas. To be specific I need to resupply the camp with specimens of coal, limestone, marble, Iron Pyrite, quartz, etc. I also try make sure there is a supply of small gastropods or other fossils so that each boy can have one to start his collection. Ideally we need enough for about 175 boys to last the summer, etc. If no one can make donations is there a source in southern California that can sell these at cost?" We seek applicants with (1) a strong commitment to teaching at the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels and (2) field-based research in paleontology and sedimentary geology. As one of two geologists in the department, teaching responsibilities will include introductory geology and (on a rotating basis), soft-rock courses including paleontology, oceanography, historical geology, stratigraphy-sedimentation, and environmental geology. Productive research leading to publication and funding is also expected. The department offers a minor in geology and has supporting teaching and research facilities including a research-quality petrographic microscope, XRD, and mineral and rock collections. Starting date is 27 August 2000, with salary dependent upon qualifications and experience. Qualifications include a Ph. D. (ABD considered) with demonstrated teaching ability and experience.
