Pacific Lutheran University
Assistant Professor of Geosciences and Environmental Studies
The Department of Geosciences and the Environmental Studies Program at Pacific Lutheran University invite applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin September 2011.
Teaching responsibilities will be equally split between Environmental Studies and Geosciences and will include teaching glacial geology, global climate change, meteorology, the central interdisciplinary methods course for the Environmental Studies program (currently with a watershed focus), topical lower and upper division courses, and mentoring senior capstone research projects. A commitment to conducting field research with undergraduate students on topics that address the complex relationships between people and the environment is expected. Research is competitively supported by the Division of Natural Sciences.
A Ph.D. is required. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is required, with experience in interdisciplinary teaching. Pacific Lutheran University, near Seattle and Mt. Faculty Position at Bryn Mawr College
Geology Department - Petrology/Mineralogy

The Department of Geology at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin July 1, 2011 in the general areas of mineralogy/geochemistry/petrology. Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for excellent teaching and creative research, as well as interest in offering courses in mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology. The hire will be expected to participate in Bryn Mawr's interdisciplinary environmental studies program. The candidate’s research specialty is open, but ideally will complement those of other faculty members at the College. Demonstrated teaching ability and a Ph.D. at the time of appointment are required, and a commitment to supporting women and underrepresented groups in the geosciences is desired.

Located in suburban Philadelphia, Bryn Mawr College is a highly selective liberal arts college for women who share an intense commitment to intellectual inquiry, an independent and purposeful vision of their lives, and a desire to make meaningful contributions to the world.
