2) ANNOUNCING THE FORMATION OF THE AWG EDITORIAL COMMITTEE
Are you interested in participating in the production of AWG publications or in the maintenance of AWG’s website? Do you have editing, writing, or website maintenance skills or are you seeking an opportunity to improve those skills? Do you like to work with others?
AWG needs volunteers for the Editorial Committee. The Editorial Committee (formerly the Publications Committee) will provide oversight to our publications (Gaea and the E-News), the AWG website, and advertising. Our meetings will be through e-mail, and an occasional conference call. The committee would recruit or produce content for Gaea and the AWG E-mail news, and would periodically review the website to verify that postings are current. The Committee would work with the Gaea Coordinator and the E-news Coordinator to produce and distribute our publications; the Committee would work with the Ad Coordinator to recruit and develop advertising opportunities; and would work with the webmaster to ensure items are posted and removed in a timely manner. You can help shape the face of AWG publications and media by working with the volunteers and staff who produce Gaea, e-news, and the website. You do need to be an AWG member, and it doesn't matter if you are a student, reduced income, or professional. Please send your expression of interest to Nadine Langley at editor@AWG.org.

3) BEATRICE BAIN RESEARCH GROUP: SCHOLARS IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
The Beatrice Bain Research Group (BBRG) is the University of California at Berkeley's critical feminist research center, established in 1986 to support and coordinate feminist scholarship across disciplines. The BBRG is particularly interested in enabling research on gender in its intersections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, nation, religion, postcoloniality, globalization and transnational feminisms.
The BBRG Scholars In Residence Program
Among its programs and activities, the BBRG has a Scholars In Residence Program. Under the auspices of this Program, each year the BBRG hosts a new group of approximately fifteen competitively selected scholars from the U.S. and abroad for a period of one academic year. (For periods of a one month to one semester, please see the BBRG's Affiliated Scholars Program).
The BBRG Scholars In Residence Program is open to senior and junior faculty (tenured and untenured), visiting scholars, postdoctoral scholars and independent scholars, from any country, whose work is centrally on gender and women. Applicants must have received their Ph.D. at least one year prior to the projected beginning of their residency at BBRG.
The BBRG provides its Scholars In Residence with the following: visiting scholar status at University of California at Berkeley; access to University of California at Berkeley libraries and library privileges; a library orientation session customized for the purposes of the Scholar In
Residence's research; the possibility of University of California at Berkeley student research assistants; shared office space; shared computer and internet access; a BBRG Scholars Writing Group which meets bi-monthly; and a forum for BBRG Scholars In Residence to present their scholarly or creative work to the Berkeley campus community and the public.
Scholars are expected to be in residence from September 1, 2009 to May 15, 2010, but are also welcome to remain in residence throughout the summer of 2010 if they wish. From September 1, 2009 to May 15, 2010, scholars are expected to attend the bi-monthly BBRG Scholars Writing/Reading Group meetings and other BBRG events. The BBRG is non-stipendiary, and thus Scholars in Residence provide their own financial support during the residency. There is a $200 affiliation fee which scholars accepted to the BBRG Scholars In Residence Program must pay to the Visiting Scholar and Postdoctoral Affairs Office at University of California at Berkeley.
Non-U.S. scholars must pay for all J-1 visa application fees both at University of California at Berkeley and in their home countries.
