1)	WOMEN GEOSCIENTISTS WANTED PRONTO	

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland needs MANY women scientists for Girl 
Scouts to interview, especially geoscientists.
 
The GSCM BIG EVENT is September 10, 2005, at the Howard County, MD, 
Fairgrounds in West Friendship.  It is a combination Cookie Sale Kick-Off 
and Science Exploration, with more than 60 stations for girls to visit, 
many of them age specific (Brownies, Juniors, Older Girls, and so on), 
some are just for fun.
 
Besides the Interview Station, the BIG EVENT has another booth that 
needs geoscientists.  The Older Girls are working on “Why in the World” 
with one of the requirements to learn about rocks, gems, and minerals and 
to be able to identify at least 10 minerals.  AWG needs at least two 
members here.  Hours are noon to 4 p.m.  Setup starts at 11 a.m.  Free 
parking.  In 2004, the event hosted 3500 Scouts.  For 2005, GSCM expects 
5000 (five thousand).  What a chance to tell young women about the 
thrill of geoscience!
 
AWG needs as many of you to come as possible.  And bring your 
girl-scientist friends – chemists, physicists, engineers, biologists, 
geographers, mathematicians – AWG members or not.  Bring show-and-tell samples of 
what you study or what you do.  Brochure handouts are nice, posters are 
great.
 
The fairgrounds are at 39.3N, 77W, at exit 80 in I-70 (intersection
