AWIS will be hosting the following events in conjunction with the AAAS annual meeting: AWIS Reception. The Reception will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2003 from 5:00 - 6:30 in the Denver Ballroom (IV, V, VI) of the Denver Marriott City Center Hotel. The program features the presentation of 2003 AWIS Fellows. Representatives Mark Udall (D-CO) and Diana DeGette (D-CO) will also be attending. Women in Leadership Workshop. The Workshop will be held from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon on Monday, February, 17th, 2003. We will have several panelists, each presenting information in her field and provide time for interaction among the participants, allowing for sharing of key experiences. Women in Science Networking Luncheon. The luncheon will be held on Monday, February 17, 2003 from 12 Noon - 2:00 PM. This year the speaker is Dr. Victoria Holloway, director of L.Oréal.s Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research. We are very excited to have her join us. She is a dynamic speaker and was recently honored with a prestigious Women of Color in Health, Science and Technology award. Dr. Holloway is a graduate of Harvard University, the Yale University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Since being chosen to head up L.Oréal.s newest Research & Development facility, the Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research, Dr. Holloway has joined the ranks of L.Oréal.s more than 1,400 distinguished women scientists. We anticipate hiring at the assistant professor level. Applications at all levels may also be considered from those who would strengthen the Program's diversity. A Ph.D. is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred. We are seeking an applicant who will establish a vigorous and innovative research program, and who will contribute to the departmental teaching program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The primary emphasis will be on regional studies focusing on polar or tropical climate processes that complement existing expertise in PAOS and CIRES.
