1)  Reminder:  Proposals for AWGF Funding needed by September 24

Proposals for AWGF funding are needed by September 24 to be reviewed at the
Fall Board Meeting in Denver. Reminders for projects that need to be renewed
and/or have reports due on the 24th have been sent to original applicants.
AWGF funds projects which support women at all stages of their geoscience
careers. Proposals must outline how the project proposed meets our criteria,
and must be focused on the public in general, with an emphasis on encouraging
women to study or enter careers in the geosciences. AWG members volunteer
their time and efforts using funds from AWGF to pay the expenses of a
project. Salary, benefits, or overhead are not paid for project personnel.

Directions for submitting proposals and the needed cover sheet are available
on the AWG web page (www.awg.org). Proposals must be approved by the
appropriate AWG Committee and the AWG Executive Committee Officer who
oversees that committee and AWGF. Committee Chairs and their e-mail addresses
are available on the AWG Web page. The AWGF contact is:

In the past we have requested proposals 60 days in advance to give AWG 30
days to consider the proposal before, with AWG approval, giving AWGF and
additional 30 days to review. This fall we are trying a 30 day lead time with
simultaneous review, but all signatures will be needed. If you have questions
please contact Judy or any other AWGF board member.
