The Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University invites applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level with 9 months per year as state salary support. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Oceanography, Biology or Microbiology, or related field, and have a strong background in molecular biology with a demonstrated interest in application of molecular techniques to marine systems. Individuals with a broad perspective and interdisciplinary research interests that will complement existing departmental strengths in biogeochemistry and areas targeted by the university's Life Sciences Initiative (lifesciences.tamu.edu/index.htm) are encouraged to apply. Opportunities also exist to be involved with the Ocean Drilling Program's deep biosphere initiatives. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong externally funded research program that will foster the growth and strength of microbial ecology in our department.
