The Program Coordinator for the Volcano Hazards Program helps formulate the overall scientific directions of the program and project funding, and serves as the primary spokesperson for the work conducted by the program within the Department of the Interior, Office of Management and Budget and the Congress. The Coordinator is also the primary USGS liaison with other Federal and State agencies, the academic community, and the private sector. The Coastal and Marine Program (FY 2000 appropriation of $33 M) funds scientific research that deals with coastal and marine geology issues concerning geologic hazards, environment, and resources. The Program Coordinator for the Coastal and Marine Program helps formulate the overall scientific directions of the program and project funding, and serves as the primary spokesperson for the work conducted by the program within the Department of the Interior, Office of Management and Budget and the Congress. The Coordinator is also the primary Survey liaison with other Federal and State agencies, the academic community and the private sector.
