FUll-TIME RESEARCH FACULTY POSITION IN PLANETARY SURFACE-ATMOSPHERE INTERACTIONS - UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for a full time research faculty position in the area of planetary surface-atmosphere interactions. We are especially interested in a theoretician/ experimentalist whose work focuses on heat and mass transfer processes, microphysics of phase change, and interactive climate effects. The applicant should also have experience with planetary spacecraft missions, including the design and development of instruments for in situ measurements, and the analysis and interpretation of in situ and remote sensing data. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field and have two years of postdoctoral research or equivalent experience by the start of the appointment, a demonstrated publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a proven record of obtaining external funding Research faculty are expected to develop their own independent research program and participate in departmental research, service, and teaching (primarily through seminars, occasional classroom lectures, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students). It is anticipated that the position will be filled at the rank of research assistant professor, but may be approved at the associate or full professor rank for an exceptionally qualified applicant.
