TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN SURFICIAL PROCESSES/ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGY
UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH AT JOHNSTOWN

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a four-year, degree-granting institution, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Geology & Planetary Science beginning in the 2008 fall term. We seek a broad-based individual who is capable of teaching upper-level courses such as Geomorphology, Geology of Soils, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Geologic Field Methods (all with labs). Teaching duties will also include introductory courses according to departmental needs. Requirements include: Ph.D. in geology/geological science at time of appointment; teaching and research experience appropriate to the position; demonstrable commitment to undergraduate education including field-based undergraduate research; excellent communication skills; demonstrable commitment to the process of program development and assessment. Desired qualifications include: interest in regional environmental geology, expertise in geochemistry and/or GIS, willingness to participate in cross-disciplinary environmental science projects; and post-doctoral undergraduate teaching experience.
