ONE-YEAR, FULL-TIME, VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ENVIRONMENTAL HYDROLOGY OR ENVIORNMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY - HOBART AND WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGES

The Department of Geoscience at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a one-year, full-time, visiting assistant professor in environmental hydrology or environmental geochemistry, beginning on July 1, 2008.

We seek a colleague with broad training in environmental geoscience. The successful candidate will be responsible for a 5-course (including associated laboratories) teaching load and offer a selection of courses including environmental hydrology or environmental geochemistry at the advanced level, and introductory courses in Earth fluid systems (ocean, atmosphere, groundwater) and environmental studies. Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience and a PhD in a relevant field of geoscience.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges are selective, undergraduate, liberal arts institutions in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The Colleges have a combined enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The Department of Geoscience emphasizes excellence in teaching and encourages students to participate in faculty research, which may use the Colleges’ two research vessels on the Finger Lakes, the 65-ft William Scandling and the 25-ft JB Snow.
