ONE-YEAR, FULL-TIME, VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN METEOROLOGY - HOBART AND WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGES
The Department of Geoscience at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a 3-semester, full-time visiting assistant professor in meteorology beginning January 2009. Hobart and William Smith Colleges are selective, undergraduate, liberal arts institutions in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The Colleges have a combined enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The Department of Geoscience emphasizes teaching excellence and encourages students to participate in faculty research.
We seek a colleague with expertise in meteorology or closely related field. The successful candidate will be responsible for a 2.5-course teaching load (two lectures and one laboratory) during Spring Semester 2009, and a 5-course teaching load during the 2009-2010 academic year. Teaching duties will include introductory courses on severe weather, and Earth fluid systems, and advanced courses in meteorology and climatology. Opportunity to participate in the supervision of undergraduate students during the 2009 Hobart and William Smith Colleges summer research program is also available. Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience and a PhD in meteorology, climatology, or closely related field.
