OCEANOGRAPHY FACULTY POSITION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EARTH & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES AND THE LAMONT-DOHERTY EARTH OBSERVATORYOF COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University seek applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Oceanography. The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of the ocean, demonstrated familiarity with ocean observations, and strong interest in teaching. Involvement in field programs and research related to the climate system or to ocean biology and chemistry, would be a plus. The position provides opportunities for collaboration with Lamont-Doherty scientists engaged in a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary research, including ocean and atmosphere dynamics, climate modeling, marine biology, biogeochemistry and paleoclimate.
Minimum requirements for the position are demonstrated scientific creativity, a Ph.D. in oceanography or related field, and capability to teach physical oceanography at the graduate level.
