Committees Reporting to the Secretary
MEMBERSHIP SERVICES COMMITTEE- ensure that current membership statistics are kept & reviewed; evaluate membership services.
Goals:
- Assess membership statistics yearly through annual report (coordinate with Membership Drive Committee)
- Develop list of AWG participants in other geoscience organizations & publicize for members
- Develop expertise directory resource list (Coordinate with Career Development)
- Improve inter-chapter communication through newsletter distribution
- Expand use of advanced electronic communications to facilitate communications & reduce communications costs. (coordinate with Publications Committee)
- Publicize scholarships
Maintain:
- Publicize benefits through Gaea, website, e-mail news and exhibits
CAREER DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE - aid in the professional development of AWG members.
Goals:
- Track success of participants in mentoring program
- Develop $1000 Phoenix Retraining scholarship
Maintain:
- Continue to publish profiles of Women Geoscientsts in Gaea & include women who have made unique career choices as a post-geoscience career (coordinate with Publications Committee)
- AWGF funding for leadership training at Board meetings, and lectures open to non-members at larger meeting where AWG has a presence or liaison (GSA, AGU AAAS)
- Coordination of leadership training at Board meetings
- Maintain & track all existing scholarship recipients
- Maintain resume review service
- Maintain Resume Writing Guide (coordinate with Publications Committee)
ARCHIVIST- organize and maintain the contents of the Association's files.
Maintain:
- Archiving of materials
BYLAWS COORDINATOR- verify that the Association's Bylaws truly reflect the way AWG operates and that all AWG business is within the constraints of law.
Maintain:
- Update AWGs bylaws regularly and in accordance with modifications made during Board meetings.
- Coordinate a board member review of or the Bylaws at semi-annual meetings for legality and vote on needed decisions
