Committees Reporting to the President
Executive Committee
Goals:
- Facilitate routine coordination of the Board of Directors to construct new, and revise existing, Requests for Proposals (RFP's) regarding paid management or other services that benefit the Association
- Increase the number of non-Directors on committees to one per committee
- Increase chapter involvement by having more members in good standing on committees
- Each executive committee member will visit one chapter (other than the one with which she is affiliated) or initiate a gathering of At-Large members. Funds for these trips should be requested from AWGF.
Maintain:
- Ensure AWG Business is conducted in a timely manner.
- Maintain Business Management and Association contracts
- Maintain open, active & supportive relationship with AWGF
- Continue to recognize & strengthen committee responsibilities and officer oversight
- Maintain officer's manual. Ensure new officers get copies of pertinent files and updated officer's manual
- Maintain active pro bono legal advisor
LIAISONS
Goals:
- Establish active representation of AWG to associated professional societies, through active participation in their government, as well as on geoscience and public affairs committees
- Encourage the AWG Liaisons to chair committees of other societies whenever possible
- Place one qualified AWG member on each influential committee of larger geoscience organizations, especially those in which each member society has a vote
- Promote AWG’s goals and mission to other professional societies
Maintain:
- Current slate of liasons
- Timely reporting of meeting results from Liaisons
