Committees Reporting to Past-President
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE- recommend candidates for Association office, vacant Director positions, & Liaison positions to other professional societies.
Goal:
- Fill all Liaison positions to involve AWG in large Geoscience organizations
Maintain:
- Identify leaders & bring them into AWG's committees & Board
- Maintain liaisons with other geoscience organizations
AWARDS & APPOINTMENTS COMMITTEE- review nominations for Association awards and recommendations for Honorary Membership.
- Track & make recommendations for nominations for liaisons, awards, & appointments to other societies each year
- Develop review and selection criteria for the Distinguished Service Awards
- Maintain a schedule of deadlines for award nominations, selections and presentation of awards on the AWG Calendar
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE- further educational opportunities for pre-college age girls and boys.
Maintain:
- Keep Career Profiles current (coordinate with Publications Committee)
- Promote AWG Speakers at public presentations through matching funds
- Maintain the SAGE awards, Chrysalis Scholarship, annual field trips and presence at outside geoscience conventions
Goals:
- Promote the following through financial support:
-joint programs with Girl Scouts & similar organizations
-chapter involvement in Science Fairs
- Association as source where educators turn for support in improving science accessibility for girls
- Get more college student members to do outreach for K-12
- Coordinate K-12 activities with AGI's Education Program/AGI Liaison
- Develop educational program database for use by chapter members
- Identify instances where key documents should and could be published in another language to serve the needs of international members (Publicist will lead coordination in cooperation with the Education and Outreach Committee)
PAST PRESIDENTS COMMITTEE - provide a forum for continued dialogue about the Association.
Maintain:
- Exchange of information between AWG & Past Presidents
- Maintain Biography files (Coordinate with Editor and Publicist)
